Railway Station

Inaugurated on November 9, 1922, it marked the founding of the city of Pires do Rio. Its name is a tribute to José Pires do Rio, Minister of Transportation and Public Works at the time, who was in the region to inspect the construction of the Epitácio Pessoa railway bridge over the Corumbá River.

Built as part of the expansion of the Goyaz Railway, the station became a strategic point for the distribution of products and was the heart of the new city, serving as the backdrop for meetings, farewells, progress, and work. Thousands of people, goods, and also the materials that helped build Goiânia and Brasília passed through its tracks.

Even with the end of passenger railway operations in the city, the Pires do Rio Station remains an important historical and cultural heritage site in Goiás.
