Railway bells

Before modern communication technologies, the sound of the bell was essential in railway operations. Each ring had a specific purpose: announcing the departure or arrival of trains, signaling track maneuvers, or alerting workers and passengers.

The Pires do Rio Railway Museum preserves four original bells from that period. Three of them were used at the station, while the smallest one traveled with the locomotive, assisting communication between engineers and crews throughout the journeys.
