De acordo com o Delegado Frederico Dias Maciel, os policiais checavam den\u00fancias contra uma oficina mec\u00e2nica no setor Real Conquista quando se depararam com ele.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Welton era foragido da Justi\u00e7a, condenado a mais de 13 anos de pris\u00e3o por ter matado sua esposa em abril de 2005. Na \u00e9poca do crime, ele matou a pauladas Maria Clarete Vaz, ent\u00e3o com 33 anos, e ateou fogo ao corpo da v\u00edtima.
