Its name is a tribute to Jos\u00e9 Pires do Rio, Minister of Transportation and Public Works at the time, who was in the region to inspect the construction of the Epit\u00e1cio Pessoa railway bridge over the Corumb\u00e1 River.<\/p><p>Built as part of the expansion of the Goyaz Railway, the station became a strategic point for the distribution of products and was the heart of the new city, serving as the backdrop for meetings, farewells, progress, and work.
